Back in 2009, after years of working with top advertising agencies and big-name brands worldwide, I took the leap—I founded Voice of Brands Communications. (Yeah, that’s me in the photo.) The agency took off fast. We bagged major F&B clients among others, both Indian and international. Their ads, made by us, screamed “healthy, wholesome, clean!” but behind the curtain? Not so much.
I kept doing my job, but the cracks in the system started nagging at me. Every “healthy” claim felt like smoke and mirrors. My curiosity turned into an obsession—I started digging. (Subscribed to a lot of accounts on Facebook and Instagram that were focussed on products labels.) And soon, the data confirmed what my gut had been telling me all along: most of what we eat under the “healthy” label is anything but.

I come from a village in Uttarakhand, a beautiful Himalayan state also called Devbhoomi – The land of Gods. Around 20 kilometers from my village, near the Indo-Nepal border, lies a place called Dharchula, nestled along the Kali Gandaki River or Kali Ganga as we on the Indian side refer to it. It was during a visit for a family wedding with my father that I stumbled upon something life-changing: sellers from Nepal were offering Kida Jadi (Cordyceps Sinensis) and its vegan counterpart, Cordyceps Militaris.
